AKIBA AI is a personal money assistant developed by SwahiliConnect in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This notice explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Your phone number, used to sign you in and to talk with you on WhatsApp.
- Your name, if you give it.
- What you send us: messages, statements, receipt photos and SMS you share.
- The records built from them: transactions, goals, reminders and notes the assistant keeps for you.
- Your credit balance and top-ups.
- Basic technical data such as sign-in times and the device that signed in, to keep your account safe.
Why we use it
- To organise your money records, answer your questions and send the reminders you ask for.
- To calculate totals and balances. These are always computed by our code from your own records, never guessed by an AI model.
- To keep your account secure and to prevent abuse.
Who helps us
- Carefully selected AI and cloud providers process data on our behalf under contract. Some of them may be outside Tanzania.
- Before any text leaves our servers for an AI provider, we hide email addresses, phone numbers, national ID numbers and account or card numbers. Names are not yet hidden in every case.
- WhatsApp (Meta) carries the messages you exchange with AKIBA AI on WhatsApp.
- We do not sell your data.
What AKIBA AI never does
- It never moves, sends, lends or invests your money.
- It never asks for your mobile money PIN or bank password. Never share them with anyone.
How we protect it
- Your data travels over encrypted connections.
- Only the people who run the service can reach our systems, and access is limited to what each role needs.
- Messages on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted between your phone and WhatsApp's business platform. After that, AKIBA AI reads them in order to answer you, so they are not end-to-end encrypted from AKIBA AI.
How long we keep it
- We keep your records while your account is open, so the assistant can remember and calculate for you.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
Your choices and rights
- Ask to see, correct or delete your data.
- Disconnect WhatsApp or other sources from your account.
- Withdraw your consent; some features then stop working.
